The closest airport to Utrecht is Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. There is a direct train link from the airport to the central train station in Utrecht taking about 1hour.

The Utrecht central railway station is the main node of the Dutch railway system and therefore has extensive links with the rest of the country and beyond. The train station is located at the western edge of the old city and also operates as the central bus station in Utrecht. The bus is a good solution for travelling around Utrecht as it goes just about everywhere. Buy tickets at vending machines or ticket booths at Utrecht Centraal, as this is much cheaper than buying them on the bus.

If the weather is fine then the perfect way to see Utrecht is by bicycle or on foot. The centre is small enough to traverse with not too much effort.

Do not attempt to drive into the centre of Utrecht, the local government have made it very difficult for motorists to park and move around in the centre by car. Park your car in one of the many large parking facilities just outside the centre of the city and continue your journey on foot or by bus.
