Rotterdam travel guide

Rotterdam, located on the New Meuse River is the second largest city in the Netherlands and home to the largest port in Europe.
Due to extensive bombing in the Second World War much of Rotterdam was rebuilt in the fifties, sixties and seventies creating an urban landscape unlike no other. It is impossible for any visitor to the city to not take note of the many architectural statements of Rotterdam. The cube houses designed by Piet Blom in 1984, The Erasmus Bridge, also known as the Swan that connects the Northern island of Rotterdam with that of the South and the 101 metre high Euromast are but a few of the architectural wonders of Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is a city that offers a wealth of attractions and events to both visitors and residents of the city alike. From the Jazz festival in July through to the Film festival in January, Rotterdam is a city in continual movement.
Rotterdam along with Amsterdam, The Hague and Utricht make up an agglomeration known as Randstad. These cities are gradually expanding to form what many consider to be one large metropolis. The advantages of the proximity with other cities is that visitors to Rotterdam are easily able to visit other large centres In Holland with relative ease and speed making Rotterdam an ideal launch pad for a more extensive exploration of the country.
Whether enjoying a view of the city from a river taxi, taking in one of the many museums or whiling away the time in one of the many shopping arcades, Rotterdam will fill you with inspiration.
