Euromast
Much of the centre of Rotterdam was bombed heavily during the second world war contributing heavily to the lack of historical buildings in the city. This lack of historical landmarks in Rotterdam is more than made up for though by the striking modern architecture that forms the basis of the city.
The Euromast tower designed in 1958 by H.A Maaskant is a fantastic place to start your exploration of the city. At over 180 metres in height the Euromast tower offers incredible panoramic view across the whole city.
Probably the most striking architectural structure in Rotterdam is the Erasmus Bridge that connects the north and south of the city. The Bridge is unmistakable due to its 138 metre curved pylon that earned it the nickname "De Zwaan" ("the Swan").
The old harbour areas of the city make for a very nice afternoon or evening stroll many of the quay sides having been turned into walkways with cafes, shops and restaurants.
