The culture of the city of Amsterdam is often misconceived by the interpretation of external perceptions. Many of the cultural stigmata’s connected with the city are related to Cannabis and prostitution industries that the city is so famous for throughout the world. These cultural influences though are not specific to Amsterdam but instead more related to the Netherlands as a whole. These major internationally cultural taboos attract millions of visitors to Amsterdam each year and are therefore more representative of the cultural persuasions of tourists than the people of Amsterdam themselves.

The Concertgebouw

Amsterdam is a city that embraces Bicycle culture and it is definitely the preferred form of transport for people in the city. With more Bicycles comes less cars and all the benefits that can be associated with this including a very vibrant street culture that embraces al-fresco dinning in a climate with which it would ordinarily not be associated.
Amsterdam has a very vibrant classical music culture and is home to one of the finest concert halls in the world, the Concertgebouw which plays host to the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra generally considered to be among the worlds finest orchestras.
